Once again, we're hunkered down, listening to the wind drive the rain against the windows, wondering whether the tree roots will hold on that big old pine out there that developed a list to the right after the last storm. The Daughter is staying with a friend overnight because it's snowing like crazy where they are, and commuting now would be a bad idea. Winter is almost over but you'd never know it from the weather pattern around here.
In the meantime, we're in the middle of Lent, journeying through one covenant after another, wondering what it really means to take up our cross - our own personal cross - and follow Jesus. What God requires of us is so simple to say yet so hard to do. We get lost sometimes.
When Nicodemus came to visit Jesus in the middle of the night, he was struggling. He had questions. And he was a Pharisee, a teacher of the Law. But Jesus set him right. May it be so for all of us.
